During the winter months, we see only a few species of birds... however the spring not only brings color in the area of flora, it also presents us with an array of bright, interesting, seasonal visitors. Woodpeckers, crows, sparrows, goldfinches, tanagers, towhees, robins, chickadees, jays and a variety of raptors have recently visited my yard. We'd catch only a glimpse of these winged wonders as they darted between the neighbors' homes, until the feeders were installed and mom took the time to teach me the fine art of suet-making. My once low maintenance yard is now a flutter with brightly colored butterflies and birds. This first year is brimming with wonderful memories.
